Daman & Diu

Daman & Diu is a Union territory of India and is located near the city of Vapi along the west cost of India. They were under the colonial rule of Portuguese from 1600 century till 1961 when it was finally taken under control by the Indian Army after a battle. For 4 centuries it was an important port for the Portuguese to ship their opium to China and thus a strategic trade centre.

A. Daman : The Portuguese Influence is seen everywhere as there are several Churches, Forts and Light Houses built during their regime and still hold a place for themselves. The most beutiful and prominent among them are the Church of Bom Jesus, Church of our lady of Augustias, Chapel of lady of Rosar, Forts like Moti Daman and St. Jerome. The Jamkore and Devka beach add to the chill out factor where you can enjoy the water sports facilities and also go for a boat ride inside the sea.

B. Diu : Diu is a blesses land with a beutiful combination of sea, land and sand to give you the ultimate experience. The Ghogla town acts as the entry point for Diu which has large branching palms & Hoka Trees swaying in both the directions to give the visitors a warm welcome. Then you have the Ghogla & Nagoa beach to relax, Gangeshwar temple and St. Paul & St.Thomas Church to offer prayers. Then you got to visit Asia's largest Shell Museum " Sea Shell Museum" where it has got the largest collection of sea shells on display.
